Warriors in a Civilian World
Although Dr. Minatrea sees clients from all walks of life, she specializes in working with military veterans and their families. She offers the comfort, confidentiality, and personal attention of a private setting, which is often a welcome relief to those who are looking for an alternative to services through the VA.
As an expression of gratitude for their service to our country, military veterans receive a discount on all services.
Dr. Minatrea can assist with:
- Pre-Deployment Preparation
- Coping with Separation, Grief, & Loss
- Combat Stress & Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
- Reintegration & Post-Deployment Transitions
- Adjusting to Civilian Life
Dr. Minatrea helps combat vets overcome difficulties that may arise after deployment, such as sleep problems or anger management. She offers Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), a straight-forward, time-limited approach to deal with combat stress and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). She also helps veterans with reintegration, including going back to work/school, reconnecting with friends and family, and making a successful transition from military culture to civilian life.
In addition to counseling, Dr. Minatrea provides psychological evaluations for veterans seeking to determine whether they have a service-connected condition such as PTSD or depression. As appropriate, she will review records, administer assessments, conduct a clinical interview, and provide a written report. These diagnostic evaluations may be of value to veterans applying for compensation and pension (C&P) through the VA and/or those who are trying to qualify for certain veterans programs, such as the veterans court program. Dr. Minatrea can also evaluate fitness for duty for military service.
